In the fall of 2007, my finance and I were searching for a home in Toronto. We were referred to Jeff Kerr and in the process, were very impressed with him and have come to respect him greatly. This letter outlines our complicated circumstances and reflects the hard work and dedication that Jeff put in, resulting in us being able to find our home.

Our situation of finding a home in Toronto was a very complicated one. I was attending school in London, Ontario while my finance was working in Victoria, BC. Complicating the matter, we were on very stringent time constraints due to our schedules and since we were searching for our first house together, we did have different opinions of what we should be looking for and in which area.

During our search, Jeff worked extremely hard to narrow down the focus of what we were looking for. This was an extremely difficult task given our divergent preferences. He also was extremely accommodating to our schedules when we flew in and out of Toronto. We also found him very comfortable to deal with and found him to be very patient when we couldn’t make up our mind and encouraging or supportive, when we encountered obstacles in the process.

What really impressed us is the work that he did without asking. On places we were interested in, he would phone and find out if there were termite issues and even after we closed the deal on the place, he met with our by-law officer and picked up an application form for a new driveway from city hall. These two items exemplify his character and work ethic.

In summary of our dealings, we would definitely use him again and would highly recommend him to anyone else, regardless of the situation.

In December of 2005, we decided that we should sell our 5 bedroom house in the Eglinton Avenue Road area. This had been our family home for well over 30 years. Our real estate agent, Jeff Kerr wished to have the house on the market by the end of February and we were traveling most of January. So under Jeff’s supervision, we spent February discarding, storing, painting, and retouching. Jeff organized a “virtual tour” to be put on the Web – our adult children said that they didn’t recognize their home – it looked so bright and airy and attractive. Then we left for Florida for 10 days during which the house was open to potential buyers – many many people were through our home. Our home had urea formaldehyde as insulation and was tested as completely safe over 20 years earlier, but we felt that this might bring the selling price of the house down. Jeff had our house appraised and all the information on the urea formaldehyde was totally available to potential buyers. At Jeff’s suggestion our asking price was about $100,000 more than we would have asked. The day after our return, we sat in Jeff’s office and “received” offers. Most offers were over the asking price and the one that we accepted was $100,000 over the asking price. Wow!! With that settled, Jeff helped us research and view condominiums, both old and new, and in many areas of Toronto. Within a month, we had settled on a new 3 bedroom condo in the Yonge – York Mills area. We moved in June 2006 and feel completely at home here. Thanks Jeff, we couldn’t have done so well without you.
